October 11, 2005 (Vancouver, BC) - The Drunk’n Dragons Dragonboat and Racing Canoe Team, is pleased to announce that the name “Drunk’n Dragons” has been officially trademarked with the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO), allowing us the honor of placing TM after the Team name! Since the Drunk’n Dragons Dragonboat Team’s inception (2001), the Team has become a high profile & recognizable part of the BC Dragonboating community, a unique identity that we have built up over the past five seasons. By trade marking the Drunk’n Dragons Dragonboat Team name, it distinguishes us as unique. It will also protect the relationships we have with our sponsors and supporters, and will retain the intrinsic value of our name. An aggressive marketing campaign has produced several participating sponsors (including our primary sponsor - Moose's Down Under Restaurant & Bar, Vancouver, BC) and has also developed many relationships with the media and event sponsors, who have been extremely generous to us, allowing us the opportunity to represent the Team and the Dragon Boat Sport itself, on a number of occasions. It is indeed a great privilege to announce this next logical step by ensuring that the integrity of our name is secure and intact, this Trademark protects it’s sponsors, media boosters and team members’ investment and the obligations that go with it.
