-- State of Dragon Boating in the Lwr Mnlnd -- Lwr Mnlnd Dragon Boat League -- 2005 DBWest Team Rankings With so many festivals, regattas and DB "sport races" now being held in central Canada, our forum counterparts there have devised a "grand prix" format for rating 1) events (with a kind of handicapping factor) 2) crews and teams who compete over various distances The result is a much-quested ranking system. > GP Rankings 2005 - Round One < is the post on www.network54.com/Forum/135730 (Note: that Jet Start currently ranks 12th below the Top 10 top draGuns of ON and QB) [Before anybody starts flaming me with thoughts like "well if you like what they're doing out east so much, why don't you just go back to where you came from ?", maybe there's a way to set up something similar within BC.] LLP (Live Long & Paddle) Title: Grand Prix of DB Racing Post by: DBWTim on June 14, 2005, 11:47:00 AM Thanks Jing,
I think this methodology would be doable out here... Quote - Each regatta is given a competitive multiplier which can increase or decrease the actual points awarded. Multipliers are 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5 with the most competitive regattas given a 1.5 (eg. Pickering, GWN) and the smaller, less competitive regattas 0.5 (eg. Stoufville) Some regattas may be excluded entirely for an insufficiently competitive field (eg. Guelph) Just did it for the West. You can check it out here (http://www.dragonboatwest.net/viewtopic.php?t=2496) I had all the raw data already for the rankings so it didn't take too long. Assign multipliers to the regattas/festivals... White Rock - 1.0 FCRCC Regatta - 1.0 Lotus Regatta - 0.5 ABDF Regatta SAT AM -1.0 ABDF Regatta SAT PM - .5 ABDF Regatta SUN AM - not included ABDF Regatta SUN PM - not included Gorge 250m - 1.0 Alcan - 1.5 what does everyone think?[/url] |
