Title: T minus 9.5 hours to FCRCC Regatta Post by: Guido on May 01, 2005, 08:18:03 PM Thought I'd jump the start here( as I usually do from the 8th seat on the left.... a couple of strokes on the start line)....with some pre race rankings.

Title: T minus 9.5 hours to FCRCC Regatta Post by: DBWTim on May 04, 2005, 08:08:26 AM Now where can one find a full list of the teams racing in the regatta?
Team Storm not attending? I would have thought they would be at the same level as Team Ruckus. Title: T minus 9.5 hours to FCRCC Regatta Post by: paddleboy on May 04, 2005, 12:26:59 PM add't teams not by placing .......... to complete the field

as for your rankings .............ummm I'd only change a couple  Title: T minus 9.5 hours to FCRCC Regatta Post by: zephyrantes on May 04, 2005, 05:45:33 PM I think FODB should be ranked first. Why?
Let's consider that thus far, for the past 3 months, the boat has only been comprised of 50-75% of its full contingent. Albeit a consistent bunch, it is interesting to see that when challenged (at the Semiahmoo Bay Regatta), FODB ended up 4th; trailing ROLI by approximately 1 second. Yes, FODB was still beaten.. but they were beaten by teams who practice throughout the year and carry a fully focused group of competitive paddlers. Surely we all have to sit back and ponder that success goes just beyond one's "guess" as to who should just be "#1". Let's not forget JDA... that team of very young adults/waning teenagers. What about their performance? Has anyone thought to wonder that this team has potential and should have a place in this "methodical" means of rankings? Why can't we look beyond just what we see on the water and analyze something real, rather than.. "Team A is #1 because they look fast".. or "Team B should be #1 because they posted the fastest time"? All these "predictions".. yet most of the time, they're all wrong. with that said...zeph.... :upsidehead: as for the predictions...i'd have to agree with most of guido's rankings, moving a couple of teams up and down though, but i'll keep my thoughts to myself just like paddleboy    Title: T minus 9.5 hours to FCRCC Regatta Post by: zephyrantes on May 04, 2005, 08:38:42 PM poopy: :upsidehead: take that back!
Title: T minus 9.5 hours to FCRCC Regatta Post by: Secret Weapon on May 04, 2005, 10:51:02 PM FODB beat FCRCC and Pac Reach at the regatta?... hmmm... nope don't think so Zeph, good on ya though for really believing in your team.
Let's all remember that White Rock was a mere 250m course and as we know alot of teams start to drop off at that point where as the strong conditioned ones press on. It will be exciting to watch this weekends final where most likely an improved Pac Reach will face up against the always solid FCRCC, and don't forget about Subaru that hasn't been seen yet this year. Secret, if you haven't gotten used to zeph's postings by now and seen any past ones, he doesn't believe in these pre-rankings threads....i'm glad that he has faith in us beating FCRCC or PR, but i'd be happy to be within 1 boat length of them     now getting back on topic.....i'm really interested in seeing how the new revamped subaru team looks like. as they are "borrowing" our captain, our team will be gunning for them in any race...as well, i wonder if RGL United will be living up to their name :D :D :D Title: Modified Guido's rankings Post by: tiger on May 05, 2005, 07:58:13 AM I saw Subaru do a race piece last night. Blew Team Storm out of the water and Subaru was in a Gemini and Team Storm was in a 6/16 (and not a slow one at that). So look out for Legacy.
1 FCRCC Mixed 2 Pacific Reach 3 Specialty Subaru Legacy 4 Roli Canada 1 5 Fresh Off the Dragon Boat 6 FCW 7 FC Grandragons 8 Alpha Red 9 Team Rukus If the women bring out their top team then they should beat the Grandragons this time, if not then Grandragons will win over FCW. Alpha Red and Rukus will be somewhere up there. In the end anyone's guess for 6 through 9. In the second heat, it's set up to have... Alpha Red FODB Subaru Legacy FCRCC Mixed and in the other... Pac Reach Roli FC Grand Dragons FC Womens Of course we all know that nothing ever goes as planned... but I think these are a safe bet. Title: T minus 9.5 hours to FCRCC Regatta Post by: Steamrollers Moaner on May 05, 2005, 09:27:29 AM Rankings are pretty accurate... however, Ruckus did beat out FCW in White Rock. Should be an interesting race again for heat #8

LOL....a "revamped" Subaru team?....ha ha ha...."borrowing"(you really think he would want to go back) paddler from a recreational(your words not mine) team is really calling it revamped?....I only put Subaru after Roli because "S" comes after "R"... Title: T minus 9.5 hours to FCRCC Regatta Post by: Steamrollers Moaner on May 06, 2005, 09:44:45 AM Quote from: Guido LOL....a "revamped" Subaru team?....ha ha ha...."borrowing"(you really think he would want to go back) paddler from a recreational(your words not mine) team is really calling it revamped?.... What about adding a semi-retired balding italian that has paddled on a comp team... would that qualify as revamping?? Title: T minus 9.5 hours to FCRCC Regatta Post by: DBWTim on May 06, 2005, 01:19:27 PM Quote from: Steamrollers Moaner What about adding a semi-retired balding italian that has paddled on a comp team... would that qualify as revamping?? I wouldn't call adding a Comp C paddler to a team that placed Comp A in Alcan 2004 as revamping either... Saw some teams on the water last night preparing for the regatta this weekend... FODB was also out on the water. Either they were taking it easy or Team Masala stepped up their training from last year. During one race piece, FODB blew everyone away at the start (no surprise there) but Masala seemed to pull up and keep up with them during the middle-to-the end of the race... Of course FODB was in a Gemini and Masala was in a 6-16 with 11 seats. Caught a glimpse of the Alpha boats. Looks like they picked up some new faces since last year. I noticed their drummer was from Scotia and some familiar faces that were on MPower last year. I have to agree with Moaner and say that they definately have a really quick rate. I wonder if they can maintain that rate through the whole 500m race The free agency market for paddlers definately seems to have been pretty busy during the offseason this year. Err...correction there.....Mr. Chaos..... I believe there are a couple(yes 2) Comp C paddlers on that Subaru team from what I saw on their boat. Does this now make it revamping them now? Well....after your observations(some may call it spying) what would your rankings turn out to be Mr. Chaos? and Mr. Moaner?....times a dwindling....let us know.....and come Paddle"Boy" we won't tell Coachy you've been on here....we're curious what is on your mind..... ok, i used the wrong word...revamped seemed too extreme....especially adding on 2 comp c paddlers from last year, what the heck was i thinking    ... i think i hang around zeph and chris too much. as for the race pieces we had last night, team masala was looking good and it didn't matter if we were on the gemini's or 6-16. it seems like a lot of teams are stepping it up as we also raced ure rec team (who looked pretty good too). can't wait to see how some of these teams do at the regatta's before alcan. There are many elements of training.......but if you insist on my bringing up the "garbage miles training"...yet again......I will..... Title: T minus 9.5 hours to FCRCC Regatta Post by: paddleboy on May 07, 2005, 08:41:51 AM Who said anything about paddling ?
