Any comments that you'd like to share? The price of the PEARL (foam core, fibreglass composite) is $125.00 while the JET (foam core, all carbon composite) is $175.00 taxes, included.

Title: Grey Owl composite paddles Post by: DBWTim on March 29, 2005, 10:41:07 AM Six-Sixteen has received their Grey Owl all carbon paddles. I'm told that they're very nice. Unfortunately they don't have any demos for you to try out, but people are welcome to go visit them and have a look.
I can understand why they don't have demo's available since they would need to purchase these from Grey Owl thus cutting into their revenue and adding to their operating costs. Also, who would buy a used paddle? Still I think it might be a good idea for them to have a set of demos in the future since it's a large chunk of change to drop for something that you haven't tried out. Kinda like buying a BMW without test driving. I know that Burnwater has demo's available for teams to try out before they make their purchasing decisions. Title: Grey Owl composite paddles Post by: ZeroSix on March 29, 2005, 11:42:02 PM Hmm... without revealing too much... a paddler on our team is associated with 6-16... and accordingly, had the Carbon Fibre paddle out at practice last weekend.
Initially they don't feel that much lighter than the High Performance paddle that I have, but after a good half hour of pause drills, 2oz makes all the difference in the world. Some of the bigger guys on our team seemed to like it because it doesn't flex as much as a HP paddle. Might be a worthwhile investment for a serious paddler. The only thing is where these paddles would be allowed.. as far as I know they are allowed at Alcan and other local races, but i've heard some discussions that the Carbon Fibre paddles aren't allowed at some festivals. They pretty muich conform to the spec202 design in terms of shape... just that they;re not made of wood... |
