Title: Beware of Steering Oars
Post by: DBWTim on March 07, 2005, 12:49:17 PM
I just want to put out a reminder for everyone to be aware of your surroundings when docking your boats. It seems that a coach of a team at DragonZone went for a little swim when trying to avoid a steering oar while "parking" the boat yesterday.

Would it be safer if teams took the steering oars with them when they unloaded instead of just leaving them in the boat hoping some other team will take the boat out?

The problem would be how do you store something like that? I know the FCRCC did (or does, i haven't been there for a while), but they have a dedicated building....

dragonzone has a shed on the dock to store the oars.

yup, i think so.  although i can't recall if that was the actual reason he went in the drink?  i think its just general responsibility to be putting the steering oar away unless you have a team on the dock at that moment waiting to take your boat out.
