Neither can I.. But it would be great to watch/take part in..

FCRCC
GTDBC B
Montrel Dragons
GTDBC A

One of those 4 teams are gonna take it for sure... in which order .. I don't know..

Though I'd love to see an underdog crew place in the top 6 or even the top 3..

Top three predictions?  I'm gonna with...

GTDBC A
Wong's
Chiros

I'm hoping FCRCC will prove me wrong though but I've always been a realist...

I too think that FCRCC will not be in the top 3 especially after what happened to them in the Vancouver Festival. They can't even take the strongest people of FCRCC to come together as one team that they end up coming up with two teams and wonder why that is??? I know a couple of months has gone past since then but there are too many "ME" people on that team that they don't feel or look like a team such as Gorging, Roli, Storm, FODB (I never realized who these guys were until this year but they have been around apparently!) or Pacific Reach. These teams have been together for quite a while and progressively get better and better or at the very least don't get any worse.

Chaos

The GTDBC B team is the one that won in Montreal beating the Wongs. It confused us all when we raced them there as we thought the A team was the top team but the B team is actually their faster team and we went up against them in the final .Both the wongs and the B team had the best lanes and we got seated in the dog lane 6 but held our ground surprisingly well all considered .Verdun just inched us out in the finish .

I would have to say the B team,IMPS & wongs are all so very close in times .Wish I was there to watch...... better yet race . I get my chance again next yr as we are probably going to head back to try it again as it was the best racing we have ever had .Montreal rules when it comes to racing .....best venue out there I would say

Yikes......... FCRCC has the chiros first round ,tough team .Verdun should be no problem for them but Verdun does have lane 1 which is known as the express lane and is definately a faster lane than 5  .Asian dragons have 7 which is the slow lane as it's alot shallower than the rest

Race   8   Premier Women   Start Time   10:10
Event   NCCC   Heat 1   Distance   500m
   Boat   Lane   Team   Time   Place

   2   3   Montreal Women
3   5   False Creek Senior Women (senior)
   4   7   Addidas
   5

Hmmm tough competiton for the FCRCC women here .Montreal Elite just got back from Training with the germans in Europe for this event .The girls on this team are alot more muscular than the false creek women and I hate to say it but looks like steriods play a big part in the Montreal team .Their girls are bigger than most of our guys ,lol. You have to see their cut v chests and the shoulders and arms on some of these girls. Some of these girls make up the Wong Dragonslayers .

Race   9   Premier Women   Start Time   10:20
Event   NCCC   Heat 2   Distance   500m
Boat   Lane   Team   Time   Place

2   3   False Creek Women
3   5   Greater Toronto Dragon Boat Club Seniors
4   7   Eye Catch
5

Beats me on this one

Race   10   Premier Open   Start Time   10:30
Event   NCCC   Heat 1   Distance   500m
   Boat   Lane   Team   Time   Place

2   3   CIBC False Creek Men

You look at those times and some of them are insanely fast .

To give an idea just how fast they are lets look at the Montreal festival this year this summer. The fastest time by the winning crew GTDBC B team (national crew going to china ) in the 500 mtr was a 2.08 and their 250 was a 1.04 . They were followed by the Wong's DBC (placed 3rd in the world 2 yrs ago)with another 2.08 and a 1.04 and were 2/100th's of a second slower .

Now we see a team w/ a 1.00   250 and a 2.02 500 ...  that is soooo fast yikes !!!      .  6 seconds faster than the national senior crew

This is a man made olympic facility w/ no currents and with probably the best course and fairest out there .The only difference probably is we used SRS boats in Montreal this summer and they are probably in BUK's .SRS basically are BUK's w/ different interiors

Wow check this out from someone that was there for sat club crew races

Quote
Premier Open Men (Race 33 2000m race last race of the day): CIBC False Creek Men at the last 300m from the finish lost control of their boat as they were starting power pick-up strokes for the finish and lost control from the huge washes. They ended up zig-zagging and hitting hard into Dragon Knights (steered by Maxime Larose) which the team almost lost control of their own boat, which then caused CIBC False Creek Men's boat to take water and flipped over as other boats wove around the scene. There was a moment of worry as the drummer is 8 months pregnant, but after doing a quick head count and getting the drummer out of the water, things were settled down to the task of getting the boat back to the docks. The entire team bailed with their paddles, and race officials came back with enough bailers, afterwhich the entire team clmibed back into the boat and paddled back to the docks. At the time of the race Dragon Knights who were ranked 5th in that race were racing 2nd place towards the finish line before the accident threw them out of the awards.

I guess nobody took on the task of data entering all the results, so I did it. I have the correct results in my hands, but may have data entered incorrectly, I'm tired, with the start of a fresh hangover and I'll have to be at the site in 5hrs time. I'll see if I'm up to the task of entering the Sun. results.

Anyhow, enjoy.

other than the roll over it appears the rest of the false creek races went well and bringing home some hardware .Looks like the mixed only made it to the B final but won and their time was good enough for 2cd in the A final if they had made it ,the men's team  came 2cd and the women took 1st

Just curious ... there wasn't one 500M winner came in under 2:00:00, in a "Olympic" flatwater course, paddled by top national teams?

What's wrong with this picture? Could it be due to boats that can be flipped over and also slow?

I raced there this past summer and it's a fresh water course and there are winds and when we first arrived there on thursday there were white caps ,I was surprised. I can tell you I think anything around the 2 flat mark is flying on that course . The winning time (a final) when we raced there was the GTDBC B team w/ a 2.08 and 1.04 250 split .We went 2.10 w/ and placed 5th overall and I can tell you that that is insane anyone went close to 2.00 .I can't even imagine ,I never thought they would be that fast . And to see a 1.00 250 thats incredible there was some huge power goin on in that boat . It would take a hell of a team to go sub 2.0 on that course . The Wongs are probably 1 of the fastest and most winning teams back east and as you can see they only managed a 2.07 and when we were there they went 2.08 and lost to the GTDBC B by 2/100th of a second .

The Olympic Rowing Basin is 2,180 meters long, 110 meters wide and 2,3 meters deep. It is equipped with an Albano system, which divides the basin into seven equal lanes, each 13.5 meters wide.

I raced there two years ago.  This is not open water much like other venues around the world.  The wake caused by the lead boats sucks everyone in and therefore the lead boats are not able to take off like in open water.  It also is not deep at all.  It almost has a curved bottom where lane 1 and lane 7 you can touch the bottom with your paddle.  It is not difficult to do a sub 1 minute time for a 250m race anywhere else.  The boats they are using also influences their speed.  With more surface area of the boat in the water and the basin being tight and not as deep causes drag and thus the teams aren't able to explode as effectively.

The competition at this event is very tight.  These teams are there for one purpose and one purpose only.

Hmmm seems there was a mistake in the team that rolled over ,it in fact was Cascade not False creek as prev. reported

Quote
The team that capsized was the Mens team fron Cascade, and the Dragon Knights were not going for 2nd place. The real results for Premiere Open 2K is:

Gold - False Creek Racing Canoe
Silver - Lachine Machine Red
Bronze - Cacade Mens

I got this off the same site this afternoon .....good false creek bringing home the gold

Toronot has the right to pick the national teams for Germany.  We can always try in a coupl of years.  You need to win at least one of the National Team Trials to make a challenge.  None of the FC teams won a race in the national trials, but they did well against very tough teams.

The club crew champioships are just another festival.  They had to pay for the venue for the weekend so might as well have a festival and call it something official.  Saturday had no bearing on anything international.
