Title: Race Format of F2000P Festivals
Post by: Imposter on August 12, 2004, 09:59:25 AM
How do they seed the teams in Victoria?

How can you have Kai & Capital Iron together in heat 6, when they were 1st & 6th last yr?  One of these teams may be bumped to B div early.  Same thing for Dragonauts & Sake (5th last yr) in heat 11 and Acme &
Alpha (4th) in heat 8.

I question the F2000 format - Capital Iron was sent to B division early in Nanaimo, even though they had some of the fastest times on saturday.  They end up winning the B final by around 10 seconds.  This format doesn't appear to be doing a good job of sorting teams.

I was going through the forum on the Victoria Dragonboat website... supposedly the teams were drawn randomly for the Saturday AM Race Grid.

I think it's kinda ridiculous to seed teams like Kai and Capital Iron in the same heat.  Those teams should be in Platnium division regardless of the outcome on Saturday.

The two formats aren't the same.  Although I like last yr's Alcan format better, Alcan gives more opportunity for the better teams to make the A final.

You could place 2, 1, 1, 1 in your four heats in Victoria and end up winning the B final (ie: Capital Iron in Nanaimo).  You do that at Alcan and you have won the comp A final.
