Any budding artists out there that would like to have a chance for their artwork to be used on a Canadian stamp?

Quote
Each year an Asian-Canadian artist is commissioned to create an original work in a traditional art or craft, e.g. pottery, embroidery, papercut, etc. This artwork is then photographed and used on the international rate stamp and souvenir sheet.

Since 2012 is the year of the Water Dragon, my idea for that year's artwork is to create an original dragon boat head. I'm looking for an Asian-Canadian artist / craftsperson who can design (under my supervision), carve and paint the head in a traditional Chinese style.

Any artists who might be interested are invited to send photos of their work to me at the email address provided.

Thank you in advance for your assistance

Cheers, Louis

Wow....looks like Vincent Lo at 6-16 took off 5 feet & 2 rows of seats and is now building IDBF spec Dragonboats....20 seater, 500lbs, foot braces & carry handles to boot.

Would be nice to take one out for a spin. Perhaps we should finally say goodbye to the gemini's & get a fleet of these re-designed 6-16's!  Smile

just curious what this guy means by "under my supervision".  if this is a public commission then anyone can create and submit the work under their own name.

maybe i'm paranoid... but this guy looks like he might want to take credit or $$$ for other peoples efforts and creative ideas.

sounds about right lol

example scenario:

Artist: *creates something unique*
Artist: There, It's done, cool huh?
Supervisor: Looks awesome, here..I'll submit it for you.
Supervisor: *tweaks the design in a very minor way* ie. move a font slightly to the left, or tweak the angle of the design 2 degree
Supervisor: *submits*

Stamp finally comes out for sale, Designer: Supervisor and Artist.

happens more often than you would believe haha
